Does the 7.5 or 15 minutes you save really save you in the end?

We are bombarded with advertisements about saving time by going on  line and purchasing insurance. When it’s all said and done however, if you have an accident in your car and are improperly covered, or underinsured, did you really save?

As an example, let’s say you went to one of these websites, take your pick. You indicate that you want the lowest premium. They capitulate by giving you a low premium which also means low liability coverage limits,  often times no coverges for Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists Coverage, or Med Pay. Possibly very high physical damage (Comprehensive or Collision Deductibles) and the thought that you are “fully covered.” Then the loss occurs. You run into another vehicle, one that is valued at over $30,000 and you only carried $15,000 of property damage liability.

In this scenario, did the $300 dollars a year you saved really save you anything?
